A reminder that Transportation Certificates (TC’s) must be returned to
the SNB Forest Products Marketing Board Immediately as April 15th was the deadline. The collection of TC’s is a legislated requirement imposed on all Marketing Boards in the province as outlined in the general regulations of the Transportation of Primary Forest Products Act. This regulation was amended last year (2023) to give Boards the authority to withhold the issuance of new TC’ to individuals that do not comply with the reg with respect to returning previously issued TC’s.
A reminder for all producers and truckers to ensure the correct PID number (not PAN number) is clearly reported to the necessary documents when shipping wood. The correct PID number will be required for payment processing.
The new EUDR regulation came into effect December 2024. JDI has recognized the need to have an individual commitment from those who ship wood to JDI mills.
This week producers and the Marketing Board received the official document for recognizing just that. Producers are asked to sign and date the document and return it to the Marketing Board office at your earliest convenience, before shipping wood from any PID. Producers can also stop into the SNB office for a copy to sign there. This formal notification indicates that the producer has had a conversation with the landowner to understand their long-term plans prior to the harvest and ensures that the wood being harvested will not be from a site being converted from forestland to farm or agriculture land. Do note that this document will need to be signed
If producers have any questions, please call the SNB office. Click the link here to see the document.
Three weeks ago, JDI notified the Marketing Board and all other producers that “Given the uncertainty of current business conditions JDI will not be entering new contracts or renewing/extending existing wood supply contracts through spring road closure season. This means once existing contracts have been completed either by delivering 100% of the volume or reaching the end date – whichever comes first, any further deliveries by the supplier shall be processed as gatewood at posted prices. This shall be in effect until JDI provides further notice.”
What does this mean for producers and landowners shipping wood? With the recent contract closures leaving gate wood as the only option, this means anyone shipping softwood sawlogs or studwood will receive $3.00/gmt less than before, and a difference of $4.00/gmt less on softwood pulpwood. The weekly fuel surcharge on top of the price of gate wood will still remain in effect. Producers and owners will still receive their payment through the SNB Forest Products Marketing Board office as usual. These prices and delivery opportunities and conditions are susceptible to change at any time.
10th SNB Board – JDI contract came to an end as of March 29th, 2025.The Marketing Board staff will stay in contact with producers as more information comes available regarding the possibility of another contract following spring.

Although Delco has curtailed deliveries, Goguen Lumber will continue to purchase spruce sawlogs. This is due to the fact this wood will remain in Canada to be sold and therefore is not at risk of tariffs.
Arauco has decreased their price on hardwood pulpwood, effective March 1st, 2025. The base price has decreased by $4.00/gmt. Please contact the office for the “all-in” price including the fuel surcharge.
All deliveries to Arbec have been curtailed. The Board contract volume has been filled, and a new contract will be put in place following spring breakup.
